2020's Biggest Events

24 Jan 20 By: Lene McGuinness

A new decade is here and 2020 sees a number of big events take centre stage. From a summer of sport with the Olympics and the Euros, to Glastonbury’s 50th anniversary and the release of the latest James Bond film after almost a five-year break - 2020 will be an action-packed year for the world of events.

Paris Fashion Week: 24th February – 4th March

Paris Fashion Week has all the style of London but with a little extra air of je ne sais quois that makes it a totally perfect theme for a celebration like no other. With Chanel and Louis Vuitton setting the scene with timeless, exquisite design, there’s plenty of opportunity to go a little OTT  with everything from your interiors to your tableware.

If you are looking to indulge in the opulence of Haute Couture during your dinner soiree, then hire our gorgeous William Edwards gold plate which goes effortlessly hand in hand with the Sambonet Versailles Gold Cutlery set. C’est Parfait!

James Bond, No Time to Die: 3 April

2020 will see a rise of Bond themed events as the 25th instalment of the James Bond franchise hits our screens. No Time to Die will be released on the 3rd April and Daniel Craig is back for his fifth and final appearance as the MI6 agent. If you want to hold a Bond-themed event, opt for slick furniture with clean lines like our Lismore lounge collection. Also, no James Bond event would be complete without a martini - shaken not stirred of course. To add to the glamour, we recommend choosing the Riedel Spiegelau cocktail glass and a silver cocktail shaker.

UEFA Euros: 12 June – 12 July

This year, the UAFA European Football Championship takes place across the continent. Two of the home nations will be making a bid to win the cup with both England and Wales set to start their matches on 14th and 13th June respectively. Also, football, at least in part will be coming home this year as Wembley is set to host the Euro 2020 finals and semi-finals in July.

If you want to host your football-themed party, we recommend hiring some sofas and armchairs, so your guests can watch the game in comfort, and don't forget to hire some beer glasses and some champagne flutes in case football really does come home!

Glastonbury’s 50th Anniversary

The iconic festival will celebrate its 50th anniversary with year with a star-studded line up that includes Taylor Swift, Paul McCartney and Diana Ross. Glastonbury is one of the UK's most well-known festivals and is one of the biggest in Europe. Attended by over 200,000 people, getting a ticket is almost as hard as securing yourself a trading slot.

If you are a food vendor doing the festival circuit this year, then you may need to hire catering equipment for your stall. At Allens Hire, we have gas and charcoal barbecues as well as gas-fired paella pans that are perfect for catering to the festival trade. if you have access to a generator we also have fridges and freezers for hire that you can use to keep drinks and your produce cool.

US election 3 November

While this election takes place over 3,000 miles away, we Brits do love a bit of American politics. Get out your red, white and blue decorations, cook up a storm with some American favourites such as chicken wings, sliders (mini burgers) and mac & cheese.

Whether you are hosting a US election party at your house or a chosen venue, you will need plenty of chairs, glassware for drinks and maybe some coffee cups, to help keep your guests stay awake during the wee hours of the morning.

If you need to hire furniture or catering equipment for an event, then contact Allens Hire today!
