Allens Hire Celebrates Riedel Heritage with New ‘Heart of Glass’ Book
A special presentation marks the continuing relationship between Allens Hire and world-renowned glassmaker Riedel.
There was a special moment at Allens Hire recently as Dylan Revie of Riedel presented Terry McGuinness, Sales Director at Allens Hire, with Riedel's brand-new book, Heart of Glass: Riedel and the Art of Taste.
The beautifully produced book celebrates the extraordinary story behind one of the world's best-known names in glassware. Released in 2026 to mark 270 years of Riedel glassmaking, Heart of Glass explores the history of the Riedel family, the evolution of functional glassware and the philosophy that has helped shape the way we experience wine and other drinks today.
From its origins in 1756 through to its continuing influence on modern glassware design, the book looks at the craftsmanship, innovation and ideas behind the Riedel name. It also explores the development of the brand's famous varietal-specific approach, as well as its work across wine, spirits and collaborations with other renowned brands.
A long-standing relationship
The presentation is particularly meaningful for Allens Hire, which has had a long-standing relationship with Riedel.
Allens first began offering Riedel glassware for hire to the UK hospitality and events industry in 2015, giving customers access to premium glassware designed specifically to enhance the enjoyment of wine and drinks.
Since then, the Riedel collection available through Allens Hire has grown considerably, giving event organisers a choice of specialist glassware for everything from large-scale weddings and corporate events to wine tastings, private parties and outdoor celebrations.
Today, customers can hire a wide selection of Riedel ranges from Allens Hire, including Riedel Restaurant, Degustazione, Veritas, Performance, Veloce, Winewings, O Stemless and Riedel Bar.
Each range brings its own characteristics. The Veritas, Performance and Veloce collections provide sophisticated options for premium occasions, while Winewings offers a distinctive design created to maximise wine's contact with air. The O Stemless collection is particularly practical for more relaxed and outdoor events, while Riedel Bar provides specialist glassware for cocktails and spirits.
For Allens Hire, the relationship with Riedel is about more than simply supplying glasses. It's about giving customers access to glassware that has been designed with purpose, helping to make a beautifully presented table even more memorable and, importantly, enhancing the drinking experience itself.
Raising a glass to the next chapter
The presentation of Heart of Glass is a fitting celebration of a partnership that has continued to grow over the years.
As Riedel looks back on 270 years of glassmaking, Allens Hire is proud to continue offering its glassware to the UK events and hospitality industry, helping customers choose the right glass for the occasion, whether that's an elegant wedding breakfast, a corporate dinner, a summer party or a dedicated wine tasting.
Thank you to Dylan Revie and the Riedel team for this wonderful piece of history. Here's to the next chapter.
