  • Host A Bbq With Either A Gas Or Charcoal Bbq

2 May 2013

Host a BBQ with either a gas or charcoal BBQ

  • Barbeque

After the long, arduous winter nothing says spring quite like hosting a BBQ, and with our range of either gas or charcoal BBQs, you can host assured that we can help if you haven’t got the equipment yourself. But what’s the better option, gas or charcoal, and what other barbeque essentials can a get-together not do without?

Besides hoping for a sunny day, BBQs should always begin with drinks -imagine jugs of mojitos or homemade pink lemonade.

Make your own pink lemonade:

Ingredients:

8 large lemons

200g caster sugar

140g raspberries

Extra raspberries for serving

Handful of mint

Ice

Method:

  1. Zest the lemons with a peeler be careful to remove as little white pith as possible.
  2. Juice the lemons
  3. Mix the juice, zest, sugar and raspberries with 1.2 litres of boiling water.
  4. Let cool
  5. Sieve, pressing through juice with the back of a spoon.
  6. Add sugar to taste and chill in jugs.
  7. When you’re ready to serve, add blocks of ice, raspberries and mint.

Next, you’ll need plenty of snacks like simple hand cut and baked sweet potato crisps or mini Caprese stack canapés. When thinking of what to pair your meat with, keep the side dishes non-competitive with crunchy coleslaw and a green salad.

Charcoal vs. Gas – choosing the prefect BBQ

Gas

Heats up instantly and has controllably heat settings.

Gas BBQs are easy to clean. Avoid dealing with hot, dirty ashes while drip trays collect the mess.

Cost effective in terms of fuel (one large gas cylinder can provide up to 8 hours of heat at maximum setting), but more expensive in terms of hiring the unit.

Charcoal

Unmatched, natural BBQ flavour thanks to the charcoal or wood it uses as fuel.

Although charcoal BBQs are harder to clean and take longer to heat up, they’re a more cost-effective option, more labour intensive, but providing a real barbeque experience.
