2017 Wessex Salon Culinaire Fundraising Dinner

10 Mar 17

The Wessex Salon Culinaire Fundraising Dinner is an event that Allens Catering Equipment & Furniture Hire has been proud to sponsor since 2015.

The proceeds go entirely to running the Wessex Salon Culinaire, a two day competition which will be held on Wednesday 31st May and Thursday 1st June 2017.  The show, located at the prestigious Brockenhurst College for the last 6 years, and run by the Craft Guild of Chefs is the biggest of its type attracting up to 700 entries each year.  It has gained momentum and increased importance as a platform for all chefs but it is particularly geared at student chefs, from the length and breadth of the country, who by entering get a first taste of culinary competition experience.

For a while the show was funded from sponsorships but the dinner, conceived as an idea by John MacArthur, the Show Director, is a much more rewarding way of raising sponsorship.  130 people from all sectors of the hospitality industry; suppliers, caterers, venues, students and their family members all made up the guest list for the Fundraiser on Monday 28th February.

It’s always a great team effort and this year was no exception.  Essential Cuisine provided chefs for the starter. Dingley Dell provided the pork for the main course.  There were 6 guest chefs from the Craft Guild of Chefs, including Tony Leck famous for his book “Pavillion on a Plate”,  Steve Scuffell from Crown Moran Hotels and Vice President of the Guild, and Omero Gallucci who created the canapés.  The students at Brockenhurst College gained some valuable experience working with the chefs and serving the food for the evening.

John MacArthur the Show Director is very keen to point out “Everyone is a winner at this very successful evening.”

Allens Catering Equipment & Furniture Hire supply equipment for a lot of charities to raise funds but choose to sponsor this worthwhile cause as it is an event that is instrumental in keeping the hospitality industry alive.
