Taking place from 25-28March, the long Easter weekend is set to be an extravaganza of events in London. To help you plan your Bank holiday Allens Hire have picked their top unmissable events in London.
The Boat Race
Taking place on the 27 March the annual Oxford University vs Cambridge University boat race is one of London’s biggest Easter events. The race begins at Putney Bridge and ends four and half miles upstream in Mortlake. Oxford won last year in both the male and female events, but overall Cambridge has a narrow lead. Get there early to bag the best viewing spots.
Vogue 100: A Century of Style
Get your fashion fix at the National Portrait Gallery during the Easter Bank holiday. This stylish exhibition will showcase a 100 years of fascinating photography that has graced the pages of British Vogue. It’s not just about models in fabulous clothes – pictures of Boris Johnson, author Salmon Rushdie and actress Helena Bonham Carter adorn the walls.
Land of the Lions, London Zoo
Opening during the Easter weekend the ZSL London Zoo’s newest exhibit will transport visitors from Regents Park to India where they can get close to some mighty Asiatic Lions. Three walkways cover the 2,500sqm exhibit and you can even embark on an interactive Indian adventure.
Open days at Brixton Windmill
Think you’ve seen everything there is in London? Think again! Get some off-the-beaten track points and visit the Brixton Windmill. This beautifully resorted windmill is 200-years-old this year and it will open for tours during the Easter weekend.
Chocolate Market at the Duke of York Square
Chocoholics will descend on Chelsea this Easter for the Chocolate Market at the Duke of York Square. Possibly one of the chicest chocolate markets in the UK, (you won’t find any Cadburys here) this year’s event will see Amelia Rope selling salt caramel truffles and Hans Sloane’s Easter eggs are not to be missed.
