Festival of Food & Wine Raceday at Ascot

It’s known as the home of British horse racing and on Saturday 6 September 2014 it also plays host to culinary delights from around the globe. The Festival of Food & Wine Raceday at Ascot delivers a thrilling seven race card and countless food and wine stalls to visit and enjoy.

With so many tasty treats to enjoy it could be easy to forget that some serious racing takes place. A sum of £150,000 is up for grabs in Britain’s most valuable three-year-old handicap, while the Fly London Southend Airport Handicap Stakes also feature.

Raceday regulars and first timers alike will find plenty to enjoy at this sumptuous event: the fashion, the entertainment, the heritage and, of course, the flavours. James Martin returns this year for another cookery demonstration and a number of delectable gifts will be available.

Salisbury Food and Drink Festival

A more diverse array of foodie treats are available at the Salisbury Food & Drink Festival which takes place between 15 and 21 September 2014. The wonderful restaurants, pubs and cafes of the city of Salisbury host a number of exclusive festival feasts.

Visitors could be treated to anything from a morning coffee and cake to a delicious evening meal, all made with local goods and foodstuffs. You’re guaranteed to enjoy a relaxing transition into August with the help of Sainsbury’s finest food and drink merchants.

Surrey County Ploughing Match & Country Fair

For a sporting day out with a difference, a super September draws to a close with the Surrey County Ploughing Match and Country Fair.

With a beautiful setting, an extra special list of events and a lovely relaxed atmosphere. Thousands head to the Surrey Country Fair every year with the whole family, including the dog.

The big attraction has to be the ploughing match which draws almost a hundred ploughmen to compete. In addition, spectators can enjoy Ben Hogg’s Lamb National and Sheepdog Displays. As if that wasn’t enough there’s also A World of Wings, featuring an array of exotic birds and their award winning trainers.

Of course, this is just a taste of the fun and excitement available at this highlight of Surrey’s event calendar.
