Top tips for welcoming 2018 in with style

Décor

One of the best things about hosting a New Year Eve party is the minimal amount of decorating you need to do, as Christmas decorations still tend to be up. Unless you’re going for a specific theme, all you really need is some balloons and “Happy New Year” garlands.

If you’re hosting a larger event that requires a bar, our LED bar units are the perfect feature to make sure your event is successful.

Drinks

To get the party going with a bang, why not make up some cocktails for your guests on arrival. Not only are welcoming drinks a great way to make your guests feel relaxed, but they’re also a really good talking point, especially if you come up with an original recipe. If you need some inspiration, take a look at our winter drinks ideas, and don’t forget to hire cocktail glasses to serve your drinks with style.

At midnight, it’s customary to toast to the year ahead with a glass of champagne, (or prosecco) so make sure you hire champagne glasses so your guests can ring in the New Year with some fizz!

Food

If the champagne is going to be flowing at your New Year’s Eve party, food is definitely a must! But if you don’t fancy putting on a three-course meal, canapes and nibbles should suffice.

Lots of chicken skewers, mini pastries, and pigs in blankets served on canape platters are always crowd pleasers - and don’t forget some mini desserts for guests with a sweet tooth!

Music

Finally, the pièce de résistance for every good New Year’s Eve Party; the music. If you’re hosting a themed event, such as an 80’s or 90’s night, the music choices should be quite an easy decision to make. If not, make a playlist on Spotify or Soundcloud incorporating chart hits with some old classics such as Michael Jackson and ABBA, to get your guests up and dancing. If you really want to tempt them to don their dancing boots; hire a dancefloor from Allens and let your guests strut their stuff well into the New Year!
